About

British author, Sue Yockney, was born in London. After studying art at Central St Martins, she went on to qualify as a chartered librarian. Now settled in Somerset, Sue lives with her husband, in a listed house they renovated. Her interest in writing began when, as a member of an amateur dramatic group unable to find suitable material to perform, she decided to create something herself. She ended up writing and directing three murder mystery plays that were well received by local audiences. For many years, she concentrated on short stories and enjoys writing in a variety of genres. In 2010, Sue’s short story Happy Deathday was awarded Highly Commended in the 2010 Yeovil Literary Prize. In early 2012, Sue left her job as a School Library Advisor to concentrate on her writing career. Two years later, after what she describes as one of the busiest periods of her life, she had written her debut novel, Happy Deathday and its sequel, Resurrection – a dystopian duology based on her short story of the same name. Her third novel, Outside the Box, a satirical romp, was published in September 2016. Viral City (Happy Deathday: Part 3) was published in April 2019. It can be read as a standalone novel in its own right, or as a follow from Happy Deathday and Resurrection.

Sue and her husband enjoy travelling and discovering new places. Her family and friends often ask them why they don’t have ‘relaxing’ holidays. The answer is simple – they prefer adventures. They have been to Alaska twice, using the local ferries to travel the Alaskan Marine Highway and did a five week road trip of New Zealand. Their most exciting and challenging trip to date, was driving the Dempster Highway (the Ice Road Truckers road) up to and beyond the Arctic Circle – in the summer. As Sue points out, doing it in the winter, would just be suicidal.
